Shri Shankarrao Genuji Kolhe is the founder, Chairman of Sanjivani Rural Education Society which was established in 1982. Sanjivani School is one of the 10 educational institutions managed under the able and dynamic leadership of Chairman (Ex. Minister and MLA of Maharashtra state) Shri.Shankarrao G.Kolhe and Shri. Nitin Shankarrao Kolhe, Executive Trustee. The society is running a College of Engineering, a Polytechnic, a College of Education, a Sainik School & many Jr. Colleges. Origin & History The exordium of the Sanjivani International School, Kharghar in the year 2005, ushered with it, a deep propensity to gravitate towards all round excellence in providing quality education, to the residents of Navi Mumbai. Sanjivani International School functions under Sanjivani Rural Education Society (SRES) established in the year 1982 by former State Minister Mr. Shankarraoji Kolhe with the view to impart technical education in rural area. Sanjivani Rural Education Society is a registered educational society with eminent and renowned members from all walks of life such as educationists, administrators, social workers, lawyers, doctors, technocrats and economists. Sanjivani International School, Kharghar is one of the 17 educational institutions managed under SRES. The School has already established itself amongst the forerunners of premier institutions in Kharghar. Whilst imparting knowledge and education, to accomplish the task of shaping its students holistically, empowering and enabling them to act as leaders within and outside the community and finally guiding them to achieve their purpose of life. If the sports education is carried out accompany with the academic curriculum, the over-all personality of the student are increased to greater extent. Keeping this in mind, Sanjivani International School provides a wide array of extracurricular activities to the students. Students learn about time management, team work and prioritizing things in their life. It allows students to get involved and explore diverse interests that they may have. CHESS "We have brought chess to the school because we believe it directly contributes to academic performance. Chess makes kids smarter. It does so by teaching the following skills: Focus and concentration, visualizing and thinking Ahead. They learn to identify alternatives and consider the pros and cons of various actions. Students learn planning and develop longer range goals and take steps toward bringing them about. They juggle multiple considerations simultaneouslytry to weigh various factors all at once." GYMNASTICS Reported benefits in gymnastics in school curricula are: enhanced development of most of the fundamental motor patterns, enhanced flexibility, enhanced strength and postural control, enhanced balance, enhanced anaerobic endurance, long-term bone forming and strengthening advantages, potential for enhanced academic readiness and cognitive abilities, enhanced task-mastery orientations, and enhanced skill focus and skill goal setting abilities. In its most basic form, the sport of handball, from which racquetball was derived, involves striking the ball against a wall with the hand.It enhances striking skills, eye-hand coordination, locomotor skills, and manipulative skills (e.g., throwing) are all components taught in this sport. Handball offers opportunities to develop these components in a partner or dual activity, while incorporating fitness as well. HOCKEY Hockey is our National game, it is more than just a game for our entertainment; it is a catalyst to help teach us the right values in life in order to be a successful, well rounded person. AT SIS we provide a high tempo, extremely challenging, set in a fun yet safe atmosphere for the sport.Similar to other team sports, hockey can bring many advantages compared to those that are played individually. Other than the obvious health benefits of getting physical activity, participants improve coordination, strength, flexibility, reflexes and agility. Maybe even more important, are the life skills that hockey players learn from a young age and carry on well past their hockey playing careers. SWIMMING Swimming is a great workout because you need to move your whole body against the resistance of the water. It is a good all-round activity because it keeps heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off the body. It builds endurance, muscle strength,cardiovascular fitness also tones muscles, improving coordination, balance & posture and provides an all-over body workout, as nearly all of the body muscles are used during swimming. Students at SIS learn breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. SUPW Socially Useful Productive Work is described as purposive, meaningful, manual work resulting in either goods or services which are useful to the community. At SIS it includes planning, analysis and detailed preparation, at every stage, so that it is, educational in essence. The aim of the curricular area is to provide children with opportunities of participating in social and economic activities inside and outside the classroom, enabling them to understand scientific principles and procedure involved in different types of work and in the setting in which they are found in the physical and social environment.
